We enjoyed decorating hats to wear at Melbourne Cup day barbecues. Brooke's hat must have been a lucky one as her horse won the race!

Mr Blamey brought his Lego kits to school again and this time the Preps made paper- crimping machines. As usual it took nimble fingers and a lot of perseverance.

Prep A has begun Term 4 with its usual energy and enthusiasm, winning the Specialists' Cup for the third time this year. Top effort everyone!!!! Mrs P is proud of you.

The final weeks of Term 3 were very busy. We really enjoyed listening to Moomintroll adventures and making our own Moomins. By the end of term we had a huge 'family' of Moomintrolls, Snorkmaidens, Moominpapas and one Moominmama to take care of them all!
As all this was going on we were practising for our contribution to Kerrimuir's annual 'Springtime Spectacular'. As we were going to sing 'The Best Gift of All' we decided to make some shiny hearts for props. On the night we all had butterflies in our tummies but everyone sang beautifully and remembered to smile. Great stuff!

Book Week

On Friday morning the whole school joined in a costume parade. The idea was to dress up as a book character.
'Today was Dress Up Day. I came as Pippi Longstocking and my Buddy came as a hotdog. We had a parade. I saw a princess and she had long hair. Mrs Pollock came as Mary Poppins.' Brooke

'Today was Dress Up Day and the pirates looked good. Some people looked scary. Some wore very good costumes and some were very funny. The funniest thing was the Bananas. I saw the Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2.' Mitchell

I came as Belle. There was a parade and I like the Tinkerbelle costume. Abigail

Lego construction

Mr Ian Blamey brought his Lego kits to school. We matched the correct pieces with a diagram and then followed instructions to make a merry-go-round. By connecting a motor we could make it rotate. We worked in pairs and it took patience to complete the whole exercise.

Happy 100 Days!

After ending Term 2 on a 'high' with an excursion and an open morning, Prep A also won the Specialists' Cup for the second time. This was a real compliment for Prep A, reflecting the interest the class has in Art, Music, Japanese and PE. Well done everyone!

We can hardly believe that 100 days of Prep has passed - certainly a great reason for celebration.
We made special masks and necklaces and enjoyed a special morning tea of delicious cakes and fruit. Happy 100 days at Kerrimuir, Prep A!!!!!

News update!

Term 2 ended with a visit to the Circus Skills studio where everyone had a turn on the trapeze, tight rope and climbing rope as well as using all the other exciting equipment.

We also had an open morning where Mums and
Dads could come and see all the lovely work we had produced over the term.

What's new in Term 2?

Last week we started going to Circus Skills which is lots of fun. We are learning how to twirl ribbons, balance plates and do tricks with scarves, hoops and 'devil sticks'.

We are delighted to welcome Mark Fittolani, a second year teaching student, to our class. So far he has been busy helping us during literacy and numeracy activities, computer and integrated studies sessions.

Now that we're well into the autumn season we have noticed that the trees around us are changing. After exploring the school yard we sorted the leaves, nuts, seeds and flowers that we collected. We found large, small, soft, curled, long, rough and skeletal leaves of many colours.

We have planted peas and are thoroughly enjoying watching how the roots and shoots grow a little each day. It's very exciting. There will be some photos coming soon!

Annual Prep/Buddy Lunch

Once again the sun shone down on Kerrimuir as we enjoyed our Prep/Buddy lunch for this year. Mums, Dads and Grandparents came along to meet and mingle with the Preps and their Buddies from the senior grades. As usual we were treated to a delicious lunch of sausages in bread, followed by fruit. Thank you to the hardworking mums who catered this event - it could not happen without your time and effort. What a spectacular day for all!

A Special Day!

Many thanks to the Grandparents and Special Visitors who came to watch the Preps sing at Assembly, and who then visited the classroom to look at workbooks, displays and the fascinating Interactive Whiteboard. Also, a huge 'Thank you!' must go to the wonderful mums who baked treats for morning tea and to those who helped serve on this happy occasion. Here are some of Prep A's visitors......
