End of Year Celebration Lunch...

On Tuesday we enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch to celebrate the end of a busy year in the Junior School.  Thank you to all the mums who fetched, cooked, served and cleaned up on the day.
We can hardly believe it's the final week of our time together.  It's been a great journey!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

 Prep-Buddy Lunch 2013
On Monday we enjoyed a tasty lunch to celebrate our year together as Buddies.  The rain held off just long enough for us to mingle in our lovely gardens and eat some tasty sausages and juicy watermelon.  Many thanks to the parents who made this possible - we really appreciate your help.

On Friday we had a special day at Kerrimuir where different year levels dressed in specific colours - this made Assembly a very colourful occasion. Prep A looked very smart in red and pink. We were all set for a great weekend once we put our brightly patterned Melbourne Cup hats. Have a look....

Look out, here come the Firemen!

The firemen came to visit us and they said "Crawl down low, go, go, go!" Then they asked has anyone watched Star Wars? Half said, "Yes I did." Then they said call 000 if there is a fire. Something new I learned was the uniform and that the breathing equipment sounded like Darth Vader!

I learned that when there's a fire you need to crawl down low and go, go, go because the smoke is above you and the air is down low. We learned about good fires and bad fires. One of the firemen put on their uniform. My favourite thing was when one of the firemen shook my hand. I learned that when there is a fire you never go back inside. I also learned that you have to meet at a special place.
Brayden also wrote, "If I had a fire in my house I really have to meet at the letter box."

The following visit was even more exciting......

On Wednesday the firemen came again. First we had a little chat, then we all went outside to see the fire truck and it was number 20. We had to count the wheels and the blue lights. All of us got a turn of squirting the hose.
Alysha also wrote that 'The firemen showed us the heavy jackets and boots. We had to see what the number was on the firetruck and we also had to count the red lights and the blue lights. Finally they turned on the lights and beeped the horn.'

Term 4 update...
We were all looking forward to our holidays after such a busy Term 3.  Two weeks of daily swimming lessons, an action-packed Book Week, Coach Approach sporting activities and finally a fun-filled Footy week made for a frantic finish to the term. Here are some photographs to jog your memory...

Working with our Buddies....
This term we are exploring ways of looking after our world. We know that by planting trees and growing our own food we are helping to sustain our planet and ourselves. Today the big Buddies brought potting mix, scoops, disposable cups, labels and spinach, parsley, carrot and mystery seeds to our rooms. All Buddies worked together to plant seeds, label and decorate the pots.  We are excited about the idea of growing and observing our own plants. Thanks, Buddies!

Congratulations!
Our best wishes go to Mitchell and Kayley who have been elected Prep A's Junior School Councillors for the remainder of the year. They will have to attend JSC meetings and may be asked to carry out some minor duties with fellow councillors. We are sure they will do a fantastic job of representing our class and of contributing valuable ideas to Kerrimuir's Junior School Council. Good luck!

100 Days!
Yesterday we celebrated 100 days of Prep. We did some writing and counting and enjoyed making colourful masks. We had a special morning tea of cakes and delicious fresh fruit. Thank you to Sue and Kate who helped in the classroom. Here we are!
